Erick Willis was born in Wichita Falls,Tx. He was raised in Henrietta, Texas. He enjoys music! As well as his Labradors.

Are you currently touring? If so with who?

"Yes, I played over 180 shows last year. The majority of them being acoustic but I do have a band out of Lubbock that I play with occasionally."

When and why did you start playing?

"I started singing at age 4. A lot of Opry shows, talent searches and numbers in church. Picked up guitar in high school and started writing songs shortly after that."

What drives your passion?

"I truly love performing. Understanding that I could make an honest living performing and sharing my music, makes me not want to ever have to do anything else."

Can you describe the type of music you play?

"The best description I could give would be Texas Soul."

Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

"Experience. I've learned, the more I see and hear, the easier it is for me to put together a song. I don't know that I've had the same process twice. But it usually always starts with a guitar or a melody idea."

What are your fondest musical memories?

"My Papaw used to let me pick what cassette we listened to in his dump truck when he made dirt deliveries. Can still hear George Jones and Tammy Wynette."

Were you influenced by old records & tapes?

"See above answer! Lol definitely heard all the golden age hits on Papaw's cassette and vinyl collection."

Who are your favorite musicians?

"Way too many to list but a few are Buddy Miller, Ryan Adams, Vince Gill, Sean McConnell."

What is a typical week like for you?

"Most weekends consist of gigs. During the week I try to dedicate some time to writing and I like to get a few work outs in and play with my dogs!"

What's your favorite thing about being on the road?

"I love seeing new towns, and new people."

What is the craziest thing that has happened at or after a show?

"I've played an acoustic set at a bar that had SWAT break in the door in full gear looking for a suspect! I love dive bars but that was my last show there"

Best place to eat while on the road?

"That's a tough one to narrow down but I recently had the best buffalo burger I've ever ate at the Gage Hotel in Marathon, TX."

What's the best town play in?

"I love playing at home in Wichita Falls. Lubbock has also become one of my favorite stops."

Since everyone was a startup once, can you give any smaller or local bands looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

"PLAY AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE! Everyone sucks in the beginning. Play house parties, play weddings, play some bars for a beer tab at first, JUST PLAY! It's the only way to work on your craft and lose the nerves!"

Thank you so much Erick!!
