Album Review: Jon Young's Relic

Artist: Jon Young
Album: Relic

Whoa my mind is completely blown away. Jon Freaking Young! How do you do it? Jon's last album Ashes of Dreams of Fire was incredible and somehow he outdid himself.

The native of Stephenville some how releases so much emotion in his music. that somehow I can't control my own emotions. The whole album is so incredible. I have to say Killing Kind and his rendition of Crazy.

"Jon Young has always been an incredible talent and artist. He is comparable to Neil Young - as he is completely consumed by his art, but also supportive of other artists and their creativity. Working with him was an impeccable experience, one I would never trade!" - Kensie Coppin, singer-songwriter.

Out of all the albums that have come out in 2017 this is one of the best! I wish I had just an ounce of soul that Jon Young has. This album came out of the hands of Ben Hussey and Josh Serrato at Melody Mountain Studios where they capture the magic of Jon's voice on tape.

"Jon has a passion for his songs unlike any other writer I know or have worked with. This can be both exciting and daunting. Ideas don't always translate from your head to tape, but the creative process we shared while making this record was one of experimenting while trying to achieve a certain degree of minimalism. With Jon's first record it was no holds barred, if he wanted it done we would try to find a way to get it done, this record we took a slightly tamer approach. We were all very hands on with the creative process for these songs. They didn't have the gestation period that the songs on the first record had, some of them weren't even finished when tracking started. We tried not to over think decisions and make a departure from the first record while still staying true to Jon's natural talent and abilities." -Ben Hussey of Melody Mountain Studios

The whole album is worth the listen.
